Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Unless, of course, you don't live in the United States, which there's a good chance you don't. In that case... uh... happy thursday! Yeah.
Anyway, I've been thinking about it, and I've decided that I'm going to change the blog system to something that works a little bit better with how this site operates. I was hoping to keep everything contained on this one website without the need to use many external avenues for presenting the content I'd like to host, but for the blog, I think I can choose something better than what I've made myself. If that makes any sense.
In the next couple of days, I'm gonna be shifting the blog to use the popular blogging platform, Blogger.
There's lots of reasons for this. For one thing, it allows me to not have to worry so much about archiving. Blogger does that automatically, whereas this custom blog system needs just about everything to be done manually. The reason why I'm using Blogger specifically is because I already know how to use it, and it's free. Not to mention that it does exactly what I need it to do with no problems, so all I need to do is just make it work on this end and I'm good.
Staying on the topic of the website, some of you may have noticed that it looks a little... off. That's because I changed the wrapper code. I did this in an effort to make this site more tablet friendly, but that's gonna be a very big and long project. One I'm not currently patient enough to do. This site will play nice with mobile one day, but that day is certainly not today.
Onto a more relevant topic, the progress on the new comic book is going swimmingly. I've caught a minor cold, so progress has been slowed, but the book has generally been moving along at a steady pace. Lots of good gags and jokes in this one, kids. Like I said, I hope you like vague visual gags about politics!
Been a little bit since I made a new post. Got some news. Pretty good news, too!
First of all, if you haven't heard yet, Donald Trump has won the 2024 election. So, ideally, until 2028, we're gonna have to deal with this guy again. I don't care if you're a democrat, republican, whatever. Daddy Don's the president, so let's all just tolerate it together. Then we can go back to hating each other after.
On that note, the first issue of Penguins should be ready by January 20th. Though it's not what I'd like to be the first issue, it'll probably end up being the first one. The Penguins 2024 Election Special is coming soon, and will be the first comic that will be hosted on this website. Hope you guys like vague, confusing visual gags about politcs!
Development on this site will begin shortly after the comic's finished. Mostly just on the widgets, layouts, and comic reading system. It may require an overhaul of a couple things, so this website still won't be finished until that;s already been taken care of. On the bright side, some new themes will come out, so that's something?
Oh, final thing: The 2024 Halloween special may (or may not) be published sometime before the year's over. I've been wrapped up in a surprising amount of projects lately, and it's left me with very little time. As well as school, dealing with my family's post-election depression, etc etc. But projects get finished one way or another, and all of these will be as well. Including this website.
Stay tuned.
It's been a while since I started working on this site so intensely, and only recently has it started to look how I wanted it to when I was still conceptualizing this website.
I'm really proud of what I got here so far. If anyone is looking to make their own site, Neocities or not, I highly reccommend consulting Reddit and W3Schools. They have been my only two sources and they've both helped me figure a lot of stuff out that I other wise would'ny have been able to on my own.
Anyway, let's get to brass tacks.
Since this website is still under construction, updates are still on the way. Y'know, so this is up to the Penguins par-of-quality. What I can immediately tell you is there will be a blog archive, where you can read my archived blog posts (shocker). I'm still working on it, but maybe if I can get it polished enough I can figure out a search-by-date system, and maybe even have other members of the Penguins team make their own posts. We have yet to see.
I haven't begun work on the comics widget just yet, unfortunately. But while we're on the subject of comics, I got a new script in the works right now. It'll be the first Penguins comic to introduce one of it's many villains, as well as follow a new plot-dynamic between the Penguins and their adventure. A more serious storyline, I suppose. Well, as serious as Penguins can possibly be.
If you're unaware with what I'm talking about (and if you are then how did you get here?), check out my Newgrounds. There's plenty there to see. Or maybe there isn't. Depends on your definition of "plenty".
Oh, other news is that some new shorts are finally going to be produced and published before the year is through. I got a halloween special in the works currently, with the hope of a christmas special. I will be linking those shorts here once they've been published.
So as you can clearly see, the blog widget isn't working quite right.
For whatever reason, I can't seem to make the avatar and the header play nice together. I'm sure it has something to do with the margins, but when I go and mess with those, I can't get those to function either. It's all very annoying. Typical HTML type beat.
Still, though. This is very close to being done, and then I can move onto working on the next bit. Which also happens to be the most important part: The comics widget.
Since this is supposed to be a webcomic site, I guess I should have something for you all to read. While I don't have a comic for you all just yet, I do have this sweet poster you can check out on my Newgrounds. Why don't you give me a follow there while you're at it? Or don't. I'm not your dad.
One last thing: I took a look at this site on my phone, and it looks like everything is severely out of place. This site was built only for desktop users, but if anyone is having issues with things being out of place, please let me know. Send me a message on Newgrounds or whatever. I'd really appreciate it.
That's about it. 'Til the next one.
